The most obvious characteristic of a positive person is their ability to laugh at life and keep things in perspective. Sometimes it’s possible for us to get so serious about living that we forget what it’s really all about. It’s easy to get wound up in this way when there are so many things to achieve and so little time to get them all done. But wait, let’s stop a moment and reconsider this. When everything feels like such a big deal we can find ourselves lurching from one drama to another, locked into our negative responses. Think about your latest ‘drama’ and how it affected your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. When we react to situations and people in a fire-fighting manner we lose our perspective and often make our problems even harder to resolve.
So why not loosen up (the sky won’t fall in) and try another way. Don’t be afraid that you will lose control as soon as you take a more relaxed approach; this isn’t true. Your lasting successes depend upon more than just reaching a particular goal: they also depend on your feel-good factor. By all means get focused, determined and motivated, but remember to enjoy your experiences. The greatest achievers also bring their positive energy to their relationships, and people love this! We all want some of that relaxed and fun-filled light-hearted energy and we will go out of our way to get some. In other words, when you can bring humour and perspective to any situation, you are much more likely to achieve all the help you need along the way.
Radiate positivity and you will attract positive energy into your life (supportive people, great opportunities and fun!). The next time you find yourself taking things too seriously for your own good, think to yourself, ‘How important will this be in six months time?’ Lighten up, smile, expect the best, act assertively and things will just start to come together. Attract positive energy by transforming negative energy.
